Fisheries spokesman Kerry O'Brien says a Labor Government would invest in fisheries research, a new innovation program and a promotion of Australian produce.
"They're the innovations that the industry needs as well as the opportunity to promote itself as a high quality, clean, green industry providing the best possible seafood product, uncontaminated, to the Australian population, " he says.
The Queensland Seafood Industry Association has welcomed Labor's plan but is concerned there no commitments to reduce fishery closures.
