10/04/2008 The fishing vessels Francesca, Western Alliance and Moira Elizabeth were chartered to undertake surveys of the NSW (Sydney to Bass Strait), Eastern (east Tas to west Tas) and Western (East SA to west Tas) regions of the SET.Approximately 120–140 tows were completed across all regions between 18th February and 13th March 2008.Nearly all of the shots in the NSW and Eastern regions were completed successfully. A number of shots in the Western region were untrawlable and had to be abandoned. Allocation of shots to the West will be reviewed prior to the beginning of the Winter survey. Observers onboard recorded the catch of species for each tow, and collected otoliths and fish lengths of quota species.
