The fishing vessels Francesca, Western Alliance and Moira Elizabeth are currently being chartered to undertake surveys of the NSW (Sydney to Bass Strait), Eastern (east Tas to west Tas) and Western (East SA to west Tas) regions of the SET.  Approximately 220 tows have been selected across all regions. Survey of the eastern and western region began 22 and 24 July respectively while the NSW survey, delayed slightly due to the Gemfish survey commitments, began on 3 August 2008.  Observers onboard are recording the catch of species for each tow, and collecting otoliths and fish lengths of quota species
