Blue warehou - western trigger limit reached; catches must be reported weekly to AFMA

02/11/2009

Blue warehou is managed as a single species but pseudo managed as two stocks, east and west.  The latitude split is 147 E.

The first trigger limit (60% of 143 tonnes) has been reached in the west.

Under the BW stock rebuilding strategy this means that all BW catches in the west must be reported weekly to the Logbook Officer Tim Emery (timothy.emery@afma.gov.au).  The report should include catch for the week and (fishing) year to date.

The report can come from the operator (fisherman) of the first receiver as agreed by  both parties.

No targeting of either stock should be occurring.

Thanks, Simon
